Last week I attended a workshop on prayer and writing hosted by Nicholas Lye. And we were brought through an experience of praying with writing.

And we were asked to write a poem about something in our lives what we really appreciated that was life-giving. And I chose the eucharist, this book laid lying near my desk.

You are round,
You are white.

The Eucharist, you are.
The Son of God, you are.

My God,
Humble you are.

Humbler yet,
Bread for us.

Bread for life,
God of life.

Food for us,
Our hearts and soul.

Food for us,
Broken for you and me.

In part 2, we had to change out the words to reflect our name. I was like, wow how do I do so? That is a very tall order. And then, the holy spirit inspired in the second stanza…

Audrey, you are.
The daughter of God, you are.

An apt reminder of our identity in Him, who we are, and who we belong to.
